SHARING THE BEACH WITH PAJOKA ARE TRADITIONAL BOAT BUILDERS, CREATING WOODEN BOATS BY HAND. THE LOCAL MARKETS ARE BUZZING WITH ACTIVITY, SHOWING OFF FRESHLY CAUGHT FISH AND LOCAL PRODUCE. NEARBY, THE VILLAGE OF KAJANG FOLLOWS ANIMIST BELIEFS AND LEADS A TRADITIONAL LIFESTYLE.
NATURE - NEARBY CAVES HAVE IMPRESSIVE GROWTHS OF STALACTITES AND STALAGMITES, WHILE OTHERS CONTAIN UNDERGROUND LAKES. THERE ARE MANY NATIVE BIRD SPECIES IN THE FORESTS AROUND PAJOKA, AND THE SHORE IS ALIVE WITH HERMIT CRABS AND OTHER INTERESTING CREATURES. THE FORESTS ALSO HAVE MANY NICE WALKS WAITING TO BE EXPLORED.
I didn't expect that they wold implement sustainable practices to that extend. We were given aquite elaborated tour of the school by the teacher and the student. Some of them actually speak exellent english. They were able to explaint almost everything in English !. The school has edible garden, medicinal garden, compost station, amazing recycle art collection made by the student (they actualy put us into shame with their art work!),talented traditional dancers and musicians, enthusiastic teacher and student and the list goes on. Green Camp Bali has given scholarships to Kindang High School student to practicipate in the South Sulawesi Sustainability Camp and stayed at Pajoka Sulawesi Villa for the duration of the camp.
This colaboration with Green Camp Bali participants will hopefully continue every year. We hope that the student will act as the Green Ambassadors and will carry on spreading the word and make changes in their community.
